Team USA Cycling competed in the Points Race today. The Points Race is an event that typically takes place on velodromes, which has banked turns to allow for continuous pedaling throughout the entire competition. On Sunday, July 23rd, Team USA Swimming, Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Volleyball had the day off. Cycling continued the road race qualifiers as reported by John Klish, Golf continued the qualifiers for the quarter finals as reported by Mike Finneran, and Track & Field started their first day of competition. Day three in Samsun handed Team USA the second loss for Men’s Volleyball. Cycling and Swimming also experienced challenges reaching the medal standings, while Golf placed in the qualifying rounds to move into the second round. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, started as the first official day of competition after the Deaflympian torch was lit during the Opening Ceremonies in Samsun, Turkey. Team USA competed in 4 events: Cycling Men and Women’s 1000 meter Sprint Qualifier; Tennis Mixed Doubles; Men’s Volleyball vs Iran; and, Women’s Volleyball vs Poland.
